The BC Seafood Alliance is committed to the conservation
and sustainable use of seafood resources in B.C. for the benefit
of all British Columbians. Conservation and sustainable management
must be first principles for all seafood businesses in B.C. Without
water and habitat quality, and ecologically sustainable resource
use practices, the industry simply cannot achieve its long-term
goals.
Report on Progress Towards Environmental Sustainability
In 2001, with the support of the B.C. Ministry
of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries and Fisheries and Oceans Canada,
the B.C. Seafood Alliance commissioned a report on Progress
Towards Environmental Sustainability in British Columbia's Seafood
Sector. The report was prepared by Archipelago Marine
Research.
The BC Seafood Alliance has updated the above information by releasing Sustainable Issue Sheets prepared by Archipelago Marine Research. These fact sheets describe innovative approaches which improve the environmental performance of fishing activities in BC. Please click on the links below to read each issue sheet.
