The B.C. Seafood Alliance is committed to co-management—or
shared stewardship of commercial fisheries resources. Alliance member
organizations believe that co-management provides a fisheries management
policy framework that enhances both conservation of the resource
and economic success for the industry.
To move towards co-management, the B.C. Seafood
Alliance, with the support of the B.C. Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, held a workshop
on entitled "Sustainability through Co-management: Managing
for a Sustainable, Profitable Fishery" on October 9 and 10,
