At
the BCSA's 2004 Summit, Challenges Ahead, the Alliance explored
issues which may present future challenges to the seafood industry.
Among the topics discussed was the Species at Risk Act (SARA).
The Act protects wildlife populations which are at risk of becoming
extinct or lost in the wild. The ultimate objective is to
help populations of affected species recover to healthy levels.
Most of the provisions of the Act entered into force in June 2003.
The
speakers at the Summit included respected scientists, government
